Research and Development

In Muntinlupa National High School, the students who are involved in the I-DID IT! program are all inventors, scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and productive workforce in the making. The students themselves are the ones who come up with their own inventions and innovations through Research and Development (R&D), with the guidance and supervision of their adviser and qualified professionals. The project themes usually revolve around good health and well-being, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, climate action, disaster risk reduction, and other sustainable development goals. Some examples of the projects that have been previously developed by the students are medicinal or health products, water purifying devices, renewable energy alternatives, and carbon mitigation solutions.

R&D has been the founding initiative of I-DID IT. The program offers methodological tools for the students to evaluate the society’s needs and challenges, assess the risks, and develop the necessary solutions producing numerous research projects across the different fields. Some innovative projects were registered for patent while some student researchers published their researches in various journals and portals. These inventions and innovations were also shared to others through various exhibits and expo conducted outside the school.

Through Research and Development, the learners develop the following 21st century competencies:

  1. Communication
  2. Critical thinking
  3. Collaboration
  4. Creativity
  5. Character

I-DID IT! prepares learners for careers and work areas that have not yet been imagined, in the context of continuing change.
